Chromecast: the Gadget That Lets You Transmit Content from Your Mobile Device to Your TV

Jonathan Blum

The habit of consuming television and video content through our mobile devices has become increasingly common thanks to streaming services, tablets and smartphones, but sometimes the image quality can be unsatisfactory due to the size of our devices.

To remedy this, Google has created Chromecast, a device the size of a USB stick, which serves as an adapter between your television and your tablet, smartphone or laptop. The way it works is very simple. All you have to do is connect your device to the same WiFi network as your Chromecast and it will automatically transmit what you are watching to your television.

In addition to being very affordable (currently around $40 USD) it is compatible with both Android and iOS as well as other apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Vevo, Spotify, Deezer and Google Chrome, among many others. This allows you to manage your viewing through your gadgets without using up your battery.
