Google Photos: A New Way of Organizing Your Images and Saving Memory on your Phone

Jonathan Blum

The digital photograph has taken over the world. We can capture and preserve our most special moments any time and any place using our cell phones, cameras and tablets, however sometimes these devices have limited storage space, or worse, they can be lost or broken, etc. causing us to lose all of our images.

While we do have cloud spaces such as iCloud, these also have limited storage space and this can become a big problem for photography aficionados. Google has a solution and has launched its own storage space called Google Photos. It evolved from the Google+ social network but has gone one step further by adding a photo editor and a backup service to its already existing functions.

Not only do Google Photos let you store and edit photographs, they also have a great facial recognition and object classification service to facilitate image searches. For example, if you want to look for a photo of your pet, all you have to do is type in the word “dog” or “cat” and the application will automatically scan your images and bring up the results that are relevant to your search.

In addition to being totally private, it has a function that automatically detects when your phone is about to run out of space. It figures out which images have already been backed up and gives you the option of deleting their duplicates on your phone. This way it immediately frees up space without risking the loss of valuable information.

But what wins me over about this attractive and useful app is the combination of unlimited space with organizational capacities, making it the best image storage option available.
