Piloting a ship and Star Wars-style combats is already possible

Jonathan Blum

Since its appearance in 1977 the Star Wars saga has marked generations. There are many communities around this fictional universe and there is still much to see. The last year Disney presented a 3D model of the theme park that is developing in Florida and also revealed the trailer of the episode VIII – The Last Jedi, the film scheduled to be released in late 2017. Not conforming to the above Propel and Lucas Film presented the official minidrones based on the saga.

The use of drones is becoming more common, they are used for fun purposes or as work tools. However, those who designed Propel in hand with Lucas Film, claim that people can “fight” like in the movies. The devices have a special laser and are for all public.

At the moment, the company developed only three models: the 74-Speeder bike, the TIE Advanced X and the X-Wing. The design of each one keeps the maximum fidelity possible with those that appear in the films. It should be noted that they are made of materials resistant to shocks and those who have been able to test them, indicate that they resist falls and collisions with each other.

Manufacturers are clear that there are two sides: the light side and the dark side. It is for this reason that there are black and white controls to handle the drones: everything depends on the empire or rebellion to which the ship belongs. If fans do not know how to handle a dron, they will need to have a mobile device to practice (without dron) from an application available for iOS and Android.

Undoubtedly, the story of Luke and Han Solo has given us endearing moments and the new generations join the fan communities, which are the most faithful and do everything possible to have collectible figures. These drones will not be the exception, despite the high launch costs, which exceed 190 euros.

The last years have been very good for Disney: since 2012 that acquired the Star Wars franchise has reported millions of dollars in profits. In 2016, for example, its numbers were historical, as it gained 2.9 billion dollars and intends to continue down this road. And best of all, fans are the most enthusiastic: there are at least two movies on the door and the future opening of the theme park.
