Unsend.it, the App that Allows You to Delete and Edit Emails After You Have Sent Them

Jonathan Blum

How many times have you sent an email to the wrong address, or accidentally sent a half-written message because you pressed the wrong combination of keys? This can be a big problem, especially if it is an important work message or if it contains confidential information.

Unsendit.app was created to solve this. It is an email application and extension that allows you to delete or edit the contents of an email that has already been sent. The way it works is very simple. All you have to do is register on the application’s official page. You will then immediately receive a confirmation email with your registration data. Once you have confirmed, you need to go into your email configuration and select the “add a predetermined sending address” or “send-only account” option where you enter the previously created username @unsend.it. This means that every time you send an email you can select this new account when sending it.

The service is available for servers such as: Gmail, Outlook, Aol, Android, iPhone / iPad. If you do not know how to configure it, the page also offers tutorials for each platform.

How does it work? If you realize you have sent an incorrect email, all you have to do is go to the page and edit or delete the contents of the email from your account. It is important to know that the email will still appear in the recipient’s inbox, but it will be blank or appear with the corrections you have made.

While this might not be the most comfortable solution, I think it is an excellent step forward as previously, something like this could cause the erasure of an entire email by mistake.

The sender will keep using their usual address, so no other users will know when we have used unsend.it.

Unsend.it developers are already working on a similar application for text messages which will soon be available. It is already offering interested subscribers the option of having preferential access to the first launch.
