Webseries dominate Emmys 2017

Jonathan Blum

The television offer these days is vast, there is everything and for all preferences, but only the best is prizewinning by the Academy of Television, TV lovers will understand and those who are not so much too, after a long day there´s not like taking refuge in your favorite program and sometimes such programs are credit to prizes like the Emmy.

But what will happen at the September awards? No doubt a lot of clever humor, the host for the 2017 edition will be Stephen Colbert, who sunday to sunday amuses us with his late night show, there will be also big absences: Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead that did not reach to be nominated in this edition due to the delay in its transmission.

These are the nominees:

Drama series
Better Call Saul (Netflix)

The Night Of (HBO)

Without taking into account the rest of the categories, the phenomenon observed with these nominations is interesting. In previous editions the programs of the big broadcasting companies were those that appeared in these lists, now only HBO persists and has a closed competition with Netflix.

The phenomenon is interesting because apparently today the audience appreciate more streaming services than the traditional, why? Because the day of the premiere of any show goes up the complete season, there are no ads and it is comfortable to be able to return to them just in the point where you stayed.

On the other hand, there is also HBO and its service Over The Top (OTT), just like Netflix has no ads during the transmission of their programs and with its application it is possible to see their content even if you missed it at the time of its release. However, whit this you should wait a week to see the next chapter.

For the academy is irrelevant if these programs are transmitted via streaming or traditional service, they are rewarding the quality of them, indicating that both Netflix and HBO have not only the most popular series but good quality, No matter if it is a political drama or a futuristic series, there is quality in the productions, the construction of the characters is deep and the subjects manage be empathetic with the audience, otherwise it would not be the subject of long conversations.

It is not possible to make some kind of prediction, just hope that it wins the best. There are two weeks ahead to catch up with the nominated series, if you have not seen them all yet; it’s never too late to enjoy a good series.
