Cisneros Media Reflects on the Year

Jonathan Blum

The end of the year is upon us and it has been a pleasure for everyone in the Cisneros Media team to share our work with you over these 12 months. We promise to make 2018 even better. To paraphrase James Dean, we can’t change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust the sails to always reach our destination.

While I do acknowledge that 2017 was exactly “easy,” I am convinced that the division of Cisneros I am so fortunate to lead, has demonstrated its huge capacity to adapt itself to complex environments. We learned big lessons from the complicated situations, which are now cause for reflection in this space.

The most important lessons always came from audiences. Avid readers of this blog (and others, you are welcome too!) will know that I am always talking about innovation or trends in content generation and more demanding audiences who want better programs in all formats. For this reason, Cisneros Media continues to work with affiliates to implement VePlusGO.

We are also proud of what we achieved. Productions such as Para Verte Mejor, which starred largely Venezuelan talent, were very well received by audiences. So much so, it had four seasons with 20 episodes each. Another production that surpassed numbers of previous years was Miss Venezuela, the beauty pageant where we can see truly beautiful women both inside and out, who are working hard day after day. Audiences showed their gratitude with their votes.

The doors into the American market were opened to Venevisión USA. As mentioned earlier, audiences are the ones demanding content and despite Cisneros Media productions already having presence through an affiliate, this year we now have our place on DirecTV, Altice, and Cox. Through these actions we seek to continue positioning ourselves to Hispanic audiences living in the United States.

Last but not least, I would like to thank everyone who has found my articles in this space interesting. This year, the most-visited post was about the internet results of Miss Venezuela. I invite you to continue commenting on the content. Leave your opinions, suggest formats, and above all, enjoy this blog.

Today we say farewell to 2017 with the conviction that 2018 will bring new opportunities for everyone. At Cisneros Media, we are already working to make sure you enjoy new content with different stories and formats that continue to bring us together.

Thank you for everything and a happy a prosperous new year!
