What are stream boxes and what are they for?

Jonathan Blum

Streaming services have become extremely popular as an alterative to satellite television. However, until recently they were only available on mobile devices (cell phones or tablets) and computers.

To remedy this, companies like Apple, Google and Samsung have created streaming boxes designed for people who have services like Netflix or Hulu but who do not have a Smart TV or proper converters to be able to transmit from their mobile device to the television.

In addition to being user friendly, one of their major advantages is they are very affordable. Their prices oscillate between 35 and 500 dollars, the latter being more expensive due to their content for videogame consoles such as Play Station and X-Box 360.

I think these gadgets are an excellent option. All you need is a HDMI port, which is now included on practically all televisions. There are also a number of options to adapt to users’ preferred operative systems.
